SEN Teaching Assistant- North Manchester

Teaching Personnel have just been approached by our partner secondary school in North Manchester to recruit for an SEN Teaching Assistant. This represents a fantastic opportunity for an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive inclusion department and work with a SENCO who is passionate about developing her staff.

This SEN Teaching Assistant role is required to start as soon as possible on a full-time basis. There is a possibility of a fixed-term contract after the initial supply period (one term).

Overview:

• To support pupils who have a range of special educational needs (mainly Asperger's and Autism).
• To be an assigned 'key-worker' for a small cohort of students and be responsible for their welfare and progress.
• To display empathy to their psycho-social concerns and provide them with the pastoral support to help them achieve their potential.
• Access to training courses, qualifications and excellent professional development opportunities.

Due to a gap arising with the support department of our partner school, the Special Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) wishes to source a SEN Teaching Assistant to join their existing pastoral team as soon as possible. This role is to support identified pupils with SEN in classes and within the inclusion unit. They are specifically seeking someone with experience of working with special needs especially Aspergers, Autism and Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Our partner secondary school is an average sized mixed comprehensive that currently caters for just over 900 pupils. Most students are from White British backgrounds but there large proportions of pupils of African and Pakistani origin. The proportion of disabled students and those with special educational needs is higher than the national average.

It is located in North Manchester providing easy access to the surrounding areas of Oldham, Rochdale and Bury via the nearby M60 motorway. There are also regular public transport links that stop directly outside the school.
