Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant
Job description
Are you a recent Psychology Graduate, looking to start a career in education? Are you interested in applying your theoretical psychology knowledge into a classroom, supporting pupils with Autism?
Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a Psychology Graduate to join one of our client schools in Stockport as an Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant.
This position will be full-time and is due to start ASAP.
The salary for this position will be between £385 and £450 per week, dependent on the requirements from the school.
The successful candidate will have studied Autism as part of their university degree and have a good understanding of how this affects the development of children. You should be able to apply your understanding of Autism into the behaviour management and academic support that is required by individual pupils. To best target the learning needs of pupils, you will work with pupils on a one-to-one basis or in small groups so that you are able to create supportive relationships to aid their development. You may also be required to assist the pupils with their Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), 3.67% of the pupils at this school require EHCPs.
For this position, it is essential that you are willing to apply for a fully enhanced DBS check, you must also be able to provide at least two employment-based references, covering the last two years of employment.
This position will be highly rewarding as you will be directly supporting the most vulnerable pupils. You will be supported by Teaching Personnel throughout your employment, for the right candidates, there will be opportunities to progress onto permanent positions as you gain experience or take the steps to become a fully qualified teacher.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
