Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant required on a full-time basis following the Easter period.

The SENCO at our client secondary school has asked for us to support them in the recruitment of an SEN Teaching Assistant in order to support the learning of an identified year 9 pupils who is on the Autistic (ASC) Spectrum.

SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Full-time position supporting the learning of an identified individual
  • Competitive pay rates with earning potential of £1300 a month
  • Required to start following the Easter period due to a forecasted gap within the schools support department
  • Must hold or be willing at apply for Child Enhanced DBS certificate and have it registered to the update service.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is essential

The incoming member of staff will be employed on a temporary basis for the remainder of the academic year and there will be an opportunity to earn further employment directly through the school following this period.

* To be considered for this role you must have experience working alongside students with ASC *

SEN Teaching Assistant Roles and Responsibilities;

  • Supporting the needs of the identified individual that you are tasked to work alongside
  • Monitoring behaviour and attainment levels and supporting the class teacher when needed.
  • Ensuring that students make steady progression within school
  • Identifying and defusing stresfull situations before they occur

The school that are currently recruiting for this role was graded 'Good' across the board in its latest Ofsted report and is situated in the Standish area of Wigan. The school is average in size and mainly serves the Roman Catholic communities of Wigan. There are an abundance of transport links that lead directly to the Wigan town centre and if travelling by car the school offers onsite car parking.
