Job description

Our client Secondary school in the Bury LEA have an opening within their SEN faculty for a teaching assistant with experience supporting young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

This position is ideal for an individual who has previously worked within an SEN specific provision, or has personal experiences in this field.

  • Full time position, supporting students with ASC
  • Working within the SEN department under the direction of the SENCO
  • Supporting pupils with ASC in class
  • Tracking progress and monitoring behaviour

"We are seeking to appoint a specialist teaching assistant to work alongside pupils with ASC from September. It is essential that the successful teaching assistant has previous experience working with young people who have mild to moderate autism. The appointed teaching assistant will be fully supported by our SENCO during this position."
Head Teacher

  • Up to £300 per week depending upon previous experience

The successful SEN teaching assistant will work with pupils across KS3 and KS4 on a 1:1 basis, supporting their learning inside the classroom and during recreational times. All progress will be tracked and monitored, and this will be reported back to the SENCO on a weekly basis. Additional training courses will be available throughout this position.

The school is located in central Bury, near to all amenities and public transportation links. The M66 motorway is situated close to the school, creating easy access from central Manchester and Rochdale.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
