SEN Teaching Assistant Job Plymouth

Teaching Personnel Plymouth are currently working closely with a well established SEN school in the Plymouth area who specialise in providing an adapted curriculum for children who have a diagnosis of Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties and Autism. The school are in need of temporary, full time and part time teaching assistants to work with pupils with a variety of needs.

The role is to start after the Easter holidays, is full time, Monday to Friday, term time only.

This is a fantastic opportunity for psychology graduates, youth workers, sports coaches, residential support workers and experienced individuals who are passionate about working with SEN children.

Your duties will include:

  • Undertaking tasks set by the class teacher
  • Supporting children within the class
  • Building up rapport between yourself and the pupils
  • Managing the classroom under the direction of the class teacher
  • Supporting children with SEN ranging from mild to severe
  • Working with small groups of children and on a 1:1 basis
  • Working in collaboration with other professionals such as Physiotherapists, Occupational .Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists and other health care professionals

To apply for this position, you will need:

  • Recent experience of working in a Mainstream classroom/or experience of working with children with special educational needs (SEN) in an educational setting
  • A strong passion to enhance the development of pupils
  • An approachable and positive attitude
  • Hold relevant qualifications
  • Be confident in working with small groups and 1:1
  • Hold a current DBS on the update service or willing to take one

In order to work for Teaching Personnel and clear our vetting process, you must have a Child Workforce DBS subscribed to the Update Service. Full assistance will be provided should you need to apply for a new check, at a standard cost of £44, plus an annual subscription fee of £13 for the Update Service.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
