Job description

Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant – Start Immediately

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated, patient and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 11 to 16 in a specialist secondary setting in Cranborne.

You will work closely with teachers to encourage learning, independence and positive behaviour, while helping students engage confidently in their daily routines.

This is a full-time role with an immediate start, offering a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a supportive and well-resourced school environment.

 

What You Will Be Doing

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional learning needs
  • Assisting with emotional regulation, communication and classroom engagement
  • Helping to adapt activities to meet individual learning styles
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Working closely with teachers and support staff to promote progress and wellbeing
  • Supporting with daily routines both inside and outside the classroom

 

What We’re Looking For

  • At least 6 months of childcare or education experience, ideally supporting children with additional needs
  • Someone calm, consistent, patient and proactive
  • A strong team player who can follow guidance while also using initiative
  • Driving licence required due to the location of the school
  • Full-time availability for an immediate start

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
