Role: 1 to 1 Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant

Location: Cardiff

Hours: Full time (08.30 – 15.30)

Pay: £77 per day (paid weekly)

Start Date: September 4th

Teaching Personnel are currently searching for an experienced Teaching Assistant to work closely on a 1 to 1 basis with a year 2 child in the central Cardiff area. The child you will be working with shows signs of ASD so the role will require you to support the child closely during lessons and social situations. If you have experience working as a teaching assistant or working with children in any other environment, you may be well suited to this role. If you don’t have a lot or any experience working with children that have additional learning needs, Teaching Personnel, and the school we are recruiting for will be able to provide you with as much guidance and support to help you along the way if your application is successful.

1:1 Teaching Assistant Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support and encourage the child on a 1 to 1 basis to complete work set by the teacher.
  • Escort the child through the school and ensure they are safe.
  • Look after child’s physical, social, and emotional welfare.
  • Create a stimulating environment to encourage learning for the child.
  • Prevent any disruption and deescalate situations during learning time and removing the child safely from the class if need be.
  • Provide the child with positive feedback to build the child’s self-esteem and confidence.

Successful 1 to 1 Teaching Assistants…

  • Show patience during challenging situations.
  • Will have a positive attitude to help the child learn social, behavioural, and academic skills.
  • Are passionate towards helping children with additional learning needs.
  • Will be able to build strong relationships with children, staff, and parents of the school.
  • Will take a hands-on approach each day and use innovative ways of keeping the child motivated to work.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
