SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Bury Area)

Location: Bury, Greater Manchester
Salary: Competitive and based on experience                                                                                                                                                                                        Contract: Full-time, Term-time only

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Bury area. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and support their academic and personal development. You will be supporting students with complex needs such as Profound and Multiple learning difficulties, Physical disabilities, speech and language delays, Autism, Global development Delays.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN, including those with Autism, ADHD, and Speech & Language difficulties.
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored learning activities to meet individual needs.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and promote positive behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Support pupils with personal care needs where required.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages independence and confidence.
  • Liaise with parents, teachers, and external professionals to ensure consistent support for pupils.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN (school or care setting preferred).
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Two employment references covering the last 24 months (essential).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting learning.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
