SEN Teaching Assistant

Specialist SEN teaching assistant - full time - temporary role - Hounslow - GBP60 to GBP90 per days

As part of the Hounslow Education Partnership Teaching Personnel have access to a wide range of opportunities, from teaching to support staff - we work with a range of schools across the Hounslow borough. 

We are currently recruiting for a specialist teaching assistant to work within a reception class. This will be working with a student with complex needs, including speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) and autism. 

The role?

As a full time role you will be working on a one to one basis with a student with complex needs with SLCN and ASC, with a delay in their speech and ability to communicate you must utiltise training such as makaton or PECs to communicate effectively. The role will involve working alongside the SENCO and occupational therapist to provide specialist care, adapting work and activities to accomodate for their ability. Within the morning you may be required to work in an independent learning space with the student, ensuring he is concentrating on the work being set. 

Ideal candidate?

- Makaton/PECs trained or experienced 

- SEN specialist, experienced working with students with autism and SLCN

- Able to work as part of a team, providing feedback to the SENCO and occupational therapist

This large three form entry have recently undergone a huge transformation externally, seeing the construction of a new building and advanced facilities. With the development of their building they have seen a focus on the educational standards being held throughout the school. As an Ofsted rated outstanding school they have been highlighted for their restructuring to improve the development of students in all areas. Within recent years they have seen an overturn in their senior leadership team and see drastic results in their academic results - including reconstructing their reading curriculum. 

With the changes in place for the students and staff they have seen how effective changes can be, focusing on constantly working to a high standard of education. As a large three form entry with high levels of special educational needs and English as an additional language the school have tailored their environment and curriculum to accomodate to all needs and requirements.
