SEN Teaching Assistant- BLACKBURN

Experience supporting children with ADHD, Behavioural, Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs.

Work at L3 or above (a Level 3 or above qualification is required to undertake this role)

Additional qualifications in Autism Awareness or Team Teach would be preferable.

A fantastic long term opportunity has arisen in Blackburn for a Level 3 TA to support a child with additional needs. The child is currently working in a Year 3 class and is making the transition from a PRU to a mainstream primary setting. This is proving difficult without full time support and so it is important that this in place ready for the start of the next term as the child needs to make good progress. On arrival at the School, you will be given a full induction and the time to meet with the class teacher and SENCO to discuss the child's needs further. This will give you an opportunity to discuss routines and strategies you will be able to implement on a daily basis to ensure the child is well supported and makes GOOD progress.

The needs of the child vary in severity and can be quite complex at times. It is therefore important that you are able to use your existing knowledge and understanding of special educational needs to hit the ground running and impact on learning and behaviour. You will be expected in this role to pass on feedback to parents and the class teacher and use this to then influence further planning and work.

The child who requires support does hold an Education, Health and Care Plan and with this he has ring fenced funding to ensure he is support in every day school life. The majority of the objectives on his plan are focused around behaviour and his need to communicate effectively with the children in the class. If you have worked with children on the Autistic Spectrum this will be beneficial as the child in question does have ASD tendencies despite not being fully diagnosed with this.

You will be given a 30 minute lunch break and be expected to work 30 minutes assisting with welfare cover at Level 1.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
