Job description

Teaching Personnel are seeking to appoint an excellent experienced SEN Teacher to a Outstanding SEN school for pupils from 4-19 with autism based in Cwmbran. The school benefits from excellent staffing ratios, small class sizes and a highly personalised approach to learning. I am seeking to appoint a class teacher, ideally from January 2019 to join their expanding team. The class consists of 8 pupils from KS3 and the needs are complex. Behaviour can on occasions be challenging but to combat this the class is supported by 3 full time TAs and there are clear strategies in place for each of the children. Due to this complexity and challenge the school are seeking to appoint an experience practitioner who has at least 2 years recent experience teaching in a similar environment in the UK delivering to children with the same needs and challenges.

The School

This school offers state of the art purpose built facilities accessible to all students including those with visual impairment. These include:

  • Specially adapted and equipped science, art, music and technology rooms.

  • Specially equipped playground.

The Ideal Applicant

A background teaching primary or secondary aged pupils with complex ASD and low communication skills (PECS & Makaton) is vital. The school are happy for applications from those with recent experience in a UK SEN environment including Overseas Trained Teachers (OTTs) either with QTS or with the possibility of obtaining QTS in the next 6-12 months.

Please note that good standards of written and spoken English are required.
