SEN teacher, SLD, ASC, full time, Catford primary SEN school

FQT required for full time position starting immediately in South Catford!

Join an Ofsted rated 'outstanding' special needs primary school for children with autism and complex needs. The school has a new building with excellent facilities including several sensory rooms, dark rooms, play spaces, a pool for hydrotherapy, a sensory garden, two halls and large, bright classrooms. They currently have a HLTA covering the class teacher, however they are seeking a fully qualified teacher to take over the role, which will last until summer 2019 in the first instance.

The details of the class that you will be teaching are as follows:

• 9 students - they are mixed key stage 2
• All students have autism - some students can occasionally display challenging behaviour
• All students are non-verbal and are encouraged to use PECS to communicate
• The successful teacher will be supported by 3 TAs and a HLTA who know the students well and can help you get to know them quickly

The school has a strong Senior Leadership Team, who are all dedicated to improving the practice of the staff and the progress of the children. You will be supported effectively by the whole staff team.

In order to apply for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• Have fully qualified teacher status
• Have experience of teaching children with mild to severe autism
• Be available for full time work from now until at least July 2019
• Be prepared to work collaboratively with the support staff in the class
• Be able/willing to travel to South Catford

Teaching Personnel are committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and will require you to have a child workforce DBS on the update service. If this is not the case, you will need to apply for a new DBS certificate.

Salary is negotiable, dependent on experience, but starts from £120 per day and can go up to £160 per day.
