Job description

Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a SEN Teacher for a maternity cover, experienced in supporting students with complex SEN. Our client is a large, generic special school in Leeds, with over 150 pupils aged 2-19 who have various additional needs including Autism; Speech, Language and Communication Needs; Severe Learning Difficulties and Sensory Impairments.

The school is located in the Oakwood area of Leeds and is easily accessible by both car and public transport from the surrounding areas.

As a Special Needs Teacher, you will be assigned to a mixed age class, with KS1 and KS2 pupils who are grouped according to their individual needs. You will have strong subject knowledge across the curriculum and experience of differentiating learning activities to meet the needs of pupils at all levels, including P Scales. You will be fully supported by an experienced Senior Leadership Team and you will have a designated team of Learning Support Assistants assigned to your class.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum 6 months' experience teaching students with additional needs in a mainstream or SEN setting
  • Up to date Team Teach (or willingness to undertake training) and a sound working knowledge of meeting the Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs of SEN learners
  • Qualified Teacher status with a good understanding of differentiation and behaviour management
  • An inclusive, nurturing and consistent approach to teaching

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
