SEN Teacher

Are you looking for your next permanent role in education?

We are currently looking for a SEN Teacher for a full time position in Littlehampton. The school is an Special Educational Needs School who cater for boys from age 10 -16. They have taken a mixed academic approach to create an environment where young people can achieve their own goals and thrive - be that with GCSEs or a vocational route.

The role / key duties

As a Class Teacher; your role will be to provide high quality, challenging and differentiated educational activities and sensory experiences through the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum to a small classroom of ASD and SEMH students, aged 10-16, to enable them to achieve their full potential in all areas of learning. To facilitate this, you’ll be expected to plan and deliver lessons following the curriculum that’s tailored to each student and assist with the day to day running of the school.

Additionally you’ll supervise and provide support and guidance to our Teaching Assistants and Higher Level Teaching Assistants and play a key role in their Professional Development Reviews.

Naturally, you will take responsibility for implementing school policies and practices, including those relating to safeguarding and equality of opportunity and will be expected to work in partnership with all school staff, parents, carers and other agencies in providing for the academic, spiritual, moral, social, emotional and cultural well-being of students and their families.

Like many SEN environments; your duties are likely to vary and therefore candidates will need to be flexible and be able to lend a hand whenever required.

Essential Qualities / Qualifications

  • Must have PGCE (or recognised teaching qualification)
  • QTS or working towards.
  • Working knowledge of the curriculum and how to adapt this for puplis with SEN / Experience of working with young people with ASD , SEMH and complex needs.

Pay - £100 - £190 depending on experience

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
