We here at Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and experienced 121 Teaching Assistant to work closely with students with sensory needs in one of our client educational setting provisions. The ideal candidate will have a keen understanding of the unique challenges faced by students with sensory needs and will possess the skills necessary to support them in their individual learning journeys. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students with special educational needs.

Responsibilities:

- Provide one-to-one support and assist students with sensory needs throughout their educational activities, both in and outside the classroom.

- Adapt teaching materials and learning environments to meet the specific needs of each student, taking into consideration their sensory sensitivities.

- Help develop and implement individualized plans for students, in collaboration with the classroom teacher and other relevant professionals.

- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment, fostering a sense of belonging and encouraging the participation of students with sensory needs.

- Assist with personal care tasks, such as aiding in toileting, feeding, or transitioning between activities, as required.

- Monitor and record students' progress, achievements, and challenges, providing regular feedback to the classroom teacher to inform future planning.

- Support the use of assistive technology and sensory equipment, ensuring students have access to necessary resources to enhance their learning experiences.

- Attend relevant training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in supporting students with sensory needs.

Qualifications and Skills:

- Previous experience working with individuals with sensory needs or special educational needs is highly desirable.

- Knowledge and understanding of sensory processing disorder, autism spectrum disorder, or other sensory-related conditions.

- Patience, compassion, and a genuine commitment to meeting the needs of students with sensory needs.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.

- Ability to adapt and be flexible in a changing environment.

- Familiarity with the use of assistive technology and sensory equipment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
