SEN Teacher

Job description

The Role 

Teaching personnel are looking to recruit a qualified SEN Teacher for our client school which is located in Wirral. Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • To maintain an up-to-date understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) principles, definitions and basic practice.
  • To effectively co-ordinate the work across the school in at least one given subject or key skill area as agreed with the Head Teacher.
  • To communicate and consult with parents/carers and other appropriate people, preparing reports for and participating in child focused meetings as required.
  • To recognise, value and raise the achievement of children.

Working with children and young people with special educational need and disability can be a challenging but rewarding job whatever the role; it’s a job that requires enthusiasm, dedication, energy, and a sense of humour. 

The School 

The School offers education for children aged 3-19 with a moderate to severe learning disability and/or complex health with:

  • Autism
  • Communication difficulties
  • Multi-sensory impairment
  • Significant medical conditions
  • Physical disability
  • Behaviours that some may find challenging

Personal Qualities 

Teaching Personnel are looking for a qualified Teacher who has:

  • the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with children.
  • the ability to use ICT resources effectively to enhance learning.
  • the ability to plan to meet the learning needs of all children.
  • the ability to teach classes, groups and individuals.
  • the ability to use assessment to aid teaching.
  • the ability to work as a team.
  • an understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
