SEN Teacher for Mainstream Provision Class - Southwark

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting on behalf of a two-form entry primary school in the Borough of Southwark. The school is based in an area with a higher than average number of pupils with English as an Additional Language & Special Educational Needs area. Despite these challenges, the school is rated 'outstanding' by Ofsted and is a successful and happy school. Staff work hard, are friendly and supportive, have excellent CPD opportunities, enthusiastic support and high levels of parental engagement. The school prides itself on its excellent rate of pupil progress while remaining creative and enriching. The school has a PE teacher, PE coach, artist in residence and a music teacher who all add further value to its curriculum. Alongside the mainstream school, they also provide support for pupils with speech, language and communication needs, from across the Borough, within a specialist 16-place provision.

The school are looking for a teacher for their Speech & Language Resource Base - Reception/KS1 classroom. Ideally they would have experience in this field but it is not a pre-requisite. They would need to have primary teaching experience (preferably EYFS/KS1), if they are not SEN experienced. In the past, the school have hired an outstanding classroom teacher who had a passion for SEN and it was highly successful. The class currently has 5 year 1 and 2 children, a full-time teacher and a TA. The TA is experienced in the Resource Base. The role is 5 days per week from the start of the summer term as the current teacher is going on maternity leave. The school are ideally looking for a candidate for a permanent position or for 1 year contract. However, we will accept application from teachers who can commit to the summer term only.
