Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit experienced SEN Learning Support Assistants to work at SEN Schools and Colleges in Northamptonshire. The schools that we work with cater for students of all ages, and cater for a wide range of complex needs such as Autism, Learning Difficulties and Behavioural Issues.

As a learning support assistant, you will be working 1-1 with students and also supporting in small groups.

The successful candidate will ideally:

  • Be enthusiastic & passionate about children's development
  • Have previous experience working with children or young adults with Special Educational Needs
  • Have awareness or experience using PECS, basic sign language or Makaton. This is desired, not essential
  • Have awareness of positive behaviour management strategies, a Team Teach qualification is desired, but not essential
  • Be comfortable with personal care as you would be expected to assist with feeding, washing and toileting for pupils of all ages
  • Have excellent communication skills

You must hold a current Child Workforce DBS or be willing to apply for a new one through Teaching Personnel in order to work through our agency.

The role of a Learning Support Assistant is to help encourage and promote independence and improve the learning journey for students with additional needs. Essential skills include excellent communication and relationship building. Previous experience of supporting learning with service users who have similar needs is important.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
