Job Title: SEN Support Assistant Location: Plymouth, United Kingdom Salary: £80 per day Working Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm

We are currently recruiting a passionate and dedicated SEN Support Assistant to join our team in Plymouth. As an SEN Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the guidance and assistance necessary for their academic and personal development. A full driving license is required for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to students with special educational needs, both inside and outside the classroom, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and can actively participate in learning activities.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and adapting teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Promote independence and the development of essential life skills in students, such as personal care and social interaction.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of tailored interventions to address specific learning needs, in collaboration with the SEN Coordinator and other professionals.
  • Support students during transitions between activities and locations, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to exchange information and ensure the best support for students.
  • Assist in the implementation of behavior management strategies and provide appropriate guidance to students in managing their emotions and behavior.
  • Contribute to the preparation of learning materials and resources, as directed by the teaching staff.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to student progress reports.
  • Attend relevant training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills in working with students with special educational needs.

Requirements:

  • A valid full driving license is essential for this role.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with special educational needs is preferred.
  • A compassionate and patient nature, with the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to the varying needs and challenges of students.
  • A strong commitment to promoting inclusion, equality, and diversity within an educational setting.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics is required.
  • Additional relevant qualifications or certifications in special educational needs, education, or child development are advantageous.

Working Conditions: This is a full-time position with working hours from 8:30am to 3:30pm. The role is based in Plymouth and offers a supportive and engaging working environment within an SEN school.

Salary: The salary for this position is £80 per day.
