SEN Support Assistant, PRESTON
The Head Teacher of an ‘GOOD’ primary school in Preston is looking to appoint a specialist learning support assistant to provide full-time support to a child in Reception with a visual impairment (VI).
The role is to provide assistance to the child throughout their school day, including playtimes and lunchtimes, to ensure that they are safe in their surroundings and are able to access the learning opportunities provided.
Job Description:
- Full-time, Mon-Fri (08:30 – 15:30)
- Start date – 2nd September 2020
- Temporary for one year, with the potential to be offered a contract from September 2021
- GBP10.00 - GBP10.50 per hour
- Access to a range of CPD opportunities
- Support from a great team of staff and an inspiring leadership team
Job Specification
Essential:
- Minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
- Child Workforce DBS registered on the update service
- Experience of successfully supporting an individual with a visual impairment
- Knowledge of strategies that will enhance the child’s learning experience
- Ability to work within a team of staff
Desirable:
- Experience of working in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage statutory framework
- Specialist training on supporting an individual with a VI
The primary school in which this role is situated is an Ofsted ‘GOOD’ school. Children in Reception make rapid progress from their differing starting points and, no matter their level of need, they very quickly settle into the highly nurturing environment created by staff. Parents say there is a real community feel at the school and it is often described as their ‘extended family’.
