Job description

Teaching Personnel are interested in working with experienced Teaching Assistants who are looking for a new challenge within Special Educational Needs schools in the Portsmouth and surrounding area:

Criteria to apply

Minimum:

  • Experience of working with children
  • GCSEs (A* to C) in English and Mathematics

Desirable Additional Degrees, Qualifications:

  • Early Childhood Studies / Childhood Studies
  • Foundation Degrees in Education
  • Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
  • Support Work in Schools
  • Special Educational Needs
  • Child Development
  • Childcare and Education
  • Early Years
  • Childcare & Early Years
  • Language / Speech Therapy
  • Core Subjects Maths, English, Science, Humanities, Languages
  • Sport Coach

Experience:

  • Working in nursery or education settings
  • Experience of working with Special Educational Needs - Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties, Speech Language and Communication
  • Previous volunteering within education or working with children

Candidates will need:

  • The ability to build good relationships with children, teachers and parents
  • The ability to cope with and manage challenging behaviour
  • A professional attitude to work
  • A strong regard for pupil safety and well-being
  • A positive approach to working with children and the ability to motivate, inspire and build rapport
  • Respect for diversity as you will be working with pupils from a range of backgrounds;
  • Excellent team working ability as you'll be working with other support staff, classroom teachers and other professionals, such as educational psychologists, speech and language therapists and social workers, parents, careers and external agencies
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
