Job description

Seeking a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work with a special school for children aged between 5 and 11 where they have areas of need around Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH). It is a Hampshire County Council school with a 10 place residential unit offering pupils boarding from Monday to Friday.

The school caters for children (boys and girls) with 55 pupils enrolled at the school; all attending pupils have some form of complex SEMH needs, this may include:

  • ADHD
  • Anti-social, uncooperative and disengaged behaviour
  • Temper tantrums
  • Frustration, anger and verbal and physical threats
  • Aggression
  • Withdrawn and depressed attitudes

The school provides education to students in small working environment, with class sizes ranging from between 6-8 pupils. TA's will be working in a collaborative nature, supporting the class teacher alongside other experiences 1:1 Teaching Assistants.

Applicants must have relevant care and behaviour experience, this may include:

  • Youth Work
  • SEMH or PRU support
  • Police or security services
  • 1:1 Care
  • Outdoor Education
  • SEN Mainstream support

This role is full time, 5 days per week operating between Monday - Friday. The standard school day operates between 08.30 and 15.30; with an hour lunch break. Our pay rate works in coordination with the schools TA rate at £9.00 per hour.
