Location: Romford

Salary: GBP140 -210 per day (MPS / UPS + TLR)

Required for: November 2020 to July 2021 initially

Suitable for: NQTs, Early Years Teachers and QTS qualified teachers with relevant special educational needs (SEN) teaching experience  

The SEN Teacher job:

Our special school based in Romford are looking for an engaging and enthusiastic teacher to plan and deliver individual education plans (IEP) for children in the school’s primary department.  Applicants will need to be open and confident supporting children aged 7- 16 with special needs such as severe learning difficulties, autism and complex behavioural and medical needs as there may be instances where you may need to teach or support other classes.

The successful teacher will manage a small group of SEN teaching assistants in class who will support you throughout the day. You will report to the school’s head teacher and work collaboratively with therapists, support workers and agencies to provide an effective learning and development plan for each child. Classes are small with an average of 8 pupils with some learning below national levels and working according to P Scales.  

The teaching role is full-time Monday to Friday 8:30-4:00pm with permanent opportunities available.

Our school is based in Romford.

  • Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted 
  • Primary and Secondary provisions
  • Ages 7 to 16 years
  • Moderate learning difficulties (MLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD), Speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), autism and social and emotional needs
  • Mixed with girls and boys
  • Small classes with a high adult to child ratio

The school will offer:

The Teacher will be:

  • QTS and/or PGCE qualified
  • Experienced teaching and planning lessons for children with SEN (EHCPs)
  • Confident teaching small classes of children with moderate and/or severe learning difficulties, autism, severe learning and social needs 
  • Available full-time (Monday to Friday 8:30-4pm during school term time)
  • Experience with P Scales, PECS, TEACCH, Makaton, ABA, Intensive Interaction will be highly beneficial for planning and delivering lessons

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
