Job Advert: SEN Primary Teaching Assistant – Sheffield (S5, S6, S35)

Location: Sheffield – S5, S6 & S35
Contract Type: Full-time or Part-time
Start Date: Immediate or January start
Salary: £90–£110 per day (depending on experience)

Teaching Personnel is seeking compassionate, dedicated, and proactive SEN Primary Teaching Assistants to support a number of our partner primary schools across the S5, S6, and S35 areas of Sheffield. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them thrive both academically and emotionally.

About the Role

In this SEN-focused role, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech & language needs, and learning difficulties

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised learning plans

  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and developing key social and emotional skills

  • Help manage behaviour positively and consistently

  • Assist with sensory activities, emotional regulation strategies, and structured routines

  • Contribute to an inclusive and nurturing classroom environment

About You

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Have experience supporting children with SEN (school-based experience is highly desirable)

  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and resilience

  • Have a passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning

  • Can build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff

  • Are confident, reliable, and able to use their initiative

  • Hold (or are willing to obtain) a DBS registered on the Update Service

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
