SEN Maths Teacher

Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a maths teacher in the Portsmouth area for a PRU (pupil referral unit). The school helps with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) pupils who have been removed from mainstream schools due to both behavioural and social difficulties. Successful candidate will be expected to work closely in small nurturing groups to mentor the pupils through the education before being moved back to mainstream schools or fully through their GCSE's.


The Role:

Hours: Full time, Permanent role available

Salary will vary dependant on experience of the candidate.


The Candidate:

The candidate must be a fully qualified teacher (FQT) for maths up to GCSE level.

Ideal candidates for a PRU should have experience or understanding in any of the following either professionally or personally:

  • Youth or community work experience
  • Care worker
  • Residential support worker
  • Sports coach
  • Youth Offending Services
  • Challenging behaviour within family
  • Psychology

Teaching Personnel offer development courses through our CPD Academy; such as Autism Awareness, Safeguarding and Team Teach to help candidates gain more experience and training within the SEN school system.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
