SEN Learning Support Assistant required, Uxbridge - West London

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for experienced learning support assistant (LSA) with autism, learning difficulties and challenging behaviour experience for a specialist primary secondary and Post-16 school in Uxbridge.

The teaching assistant role will be full-time for an academic year as a minimum and is required after the Easter holidays.

The School

This 'outstanding' (Ofsted 2014/2015) special school provides for primary, secondary and Post-16 pupils with autism, severe learning difficulties, social and emotional difficulties and physical disabilities. Classes usually hold up to 10 students, a teacher and up to 3 other Teaching Assistants.

The Role:

The role involves supporting primary aged pupils with special needs particularly autism and challenging behaviour in class and across the school 1:1, 2:1 and in small groups. This additionally will include adapting lessons, creating innovative resources, assisting the class teacher, report taking, liaising with therapists and overall support of pupils in your care.

To be successful you will need to be:

• Able to work full-time for two terms as a minimum, ideally for a full academic year
• Experience supporting autism, learning difficulties, challenging behaviour and social difficulties
• Safeguarding trained or happy to complete safeguarding training
• Open/experienced to supporting pupils with personal care, personal hygiene and/or nappy changing
• Committed to the development of children and young people with special needs
• Able to motivate pupils to fulfil their full potential in education and in society
• Able to be a role model to pupils and enable them to make appropriate choices
• Good knowledge of national curriculum and confidence in Maths, English support
