A wonderful friendly modern SEN Primary School in Lewisham (/Catford), Lewisham, are currently recruiting for friendly and enthusiastic SEN Learning Support Assistants (Teaching Assistants) for positions to start after Easter full time, long term and for daily supply. The primary pupils have a variety of individual needs; some are on the autistic spectrum, some have profound and multiple learning difficulties, others have medical needs or physical/ sensory impairments.

Successful candidates need to be able to start immediately (no notice periods) and able to commit to a full school term

The Ideal Learning Support Assistant;

• Have experience working in SEN Schools or experience working 1-1 with SEN pupil

• Experience working with ASC and PMLD is essential

• Moving & Handling and wheel chair hoisting is beneficial

• Team Teach (Or positive behaviour management) training is ideal

• Able to do personal care (toileting and hygiene requirements) or open to it

• Have experience working with children, youth clubs, sport coaches and care work experience may also be considered

• Experience using SEN learning methods such as PECS and Makaton is beneficial

• Good understanding of safeguarding for children and good understanding how to deal with safeguarding issues

• Flexible and adaptive

• You will need to be confident, organised, proactive and be able to use your initiative

SEN Learning Support Assistant role;

• Supporting SEN pupils across all classes in the primary school, wither working in Small groups or 1-1

• Moving & Handling and wheel chair hoisting (accompanied by a permanent member of staff)

• Personal Care (toileting and hygiene requirements) (accompanied by a permanent member of staff)

• Escorting children to dinner halls, toilets and playground

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
