SEN Support Assistant required for Specialist Setting in Leeds

  • Do you have the necessary skills and attributes to support pupils with special educational needs?
  • Are you able to establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs?
  • Do you have the ability to help with children's personal care needs?

Teaching Personnel are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to work with pupils with additional needs in a specialist SEN setting in Leeds. The school caters for young people aged 2-19 with a wide range of needs including profound, multiple and complex conditions, autistic spectrum conditions and moderate to severe learning difficulties. All pupils have an Education Health and Care Plan or statement of Special Educational needs.

You will have experience supporting young people with additional needs in an education or healthcare setting. You may also have received training in Intensive Interaction, Makaton, PECS , TEACCH or SCERTS which support the development of provisions for pupils with complex communication needs and those with a diagnosis of autism. You have a commitment to meet the social, emotional and mental health needs of young people and will be willing to support pupils’ personal care needs.

As a registered Teaching Assistant with Teaching Personnel you will be have access to CPD courses delivered by Team Teach, NASEN and Leeds Trinity University and you will be fully supported by your dedicated, personal consultant.

This is a full time role and you must be available to work during school hours during term time and have flexibility to attend staff meetings and/or training sessions outside of school hours.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
