SENTA required for immediate start in Leeds

- Appropriate training in BSL, Makaton, PECS and/or Team Teach highly desirable
We are currently looking for experienced teaching assistants to work at our SEN schools in Leeds to start as soon as possible with the opportunity to become a permanent member of staff
Our schools range from primary ages through to secondary with a range of SEN (including Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties and Speech and Language Delay). You will be required to support these pupils and reengage them as fully as possible back in to education. Your role will include nurture and offer additional support with communication, including those pupils with a mechanical system of communication such as PECS. You may also be required to use British Sign Language and/or Makaton, (a form of sign language for SEN pupils) so training in either of these would be beneficial.
You will have strong interpersonal skills in order to communicate with families, carers and a multidisciplinary team of teaching staff, social workers, speech and language therapists and educational psychologists. You will be organised, patient and confident, with a sound understanding of meeting the social, emotional and mental health needs of young people with Special Educational Needs.
Experience or training in the following is also desirable:
· Picture Exchange Communication (PECS)
· Makaton or BSL (to any level)
· Autism Awareness/ASC Training
· Team Teach
· Moving and Handling
