One to One Behaviour Support

  • SEMH /Nurture Teaching Assistant Required for September 2017 Start.
  • Experience of working with challenging behaviours highly desirable
  • Supporting behaviour in Key Stage 1

A full time opportunity has become available in a “Good” primary school in Barking. The school is looking to recruit a learning support assistant with extensive experience supporting pupils with barriers to learning, who display challenging behaviour in the role of a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant.

The school located in Barking are looking to recruit a 1:1 support for a pupil who is due to return to mainstream school after spending the year at a Pupil Referral Unit. The headteacher is looking for a teaching assistant with experience supporting pupils with Social/Emotional and behavioural issues. The pupil in question can become aggressive and occasionally violent so experience in this field is essential.

To be considered for this learning support assistant role, you will need to have a teaching assistant qualification or a degree and significant experience working with children with behavioural needs. This is a full time post starting September with the idea to be put on a school contract.

The Role:

• Supporting a pupil with challenging behaviour in key stage 1

• Working in class and withdrawal from class where appropriate

• Including and accessing the mainstream curriculum where possible

• Individual 1:1 support to engage and develop learning and behaviour

- Permanent role going onto school contract

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
