- Motivated Children With A Desire To Learn
A client school in Tonbridge are currently looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work alongside a young boy in Year 4 with additional learning requirements.
The school is a small Church of England village school which has served its community for over 150 years. They have a strong Christian ethos and follow their Christian values. Each child is encouraged to build their own unique personality and they are nurtured through pastoral care and a lively and stimulating curriculum.
Children at the school are encouraged to embrace new challenges with confidence and the school prepares them to cope as members of a wider community in an ever-changing world. The school inspires the children to strive for excellence, both in academic areas and in their own personal goals. Ultimately, they want their children to enjoy a positive school experience and move confidently between each transitional stage.
The boy who the successful candidate will be supporting is a Year 4 child who has some complex learning needs. He needs regular, committed support in order to access the curriculum but can become frustrated and react with some difficult behaviour. The role would probably be better described as a 'Learning Mentor' rather than a standard Teaching Assistant role.
Successful candidates will preferably:
- Have previous experience working in schools or alongside children
- Be committed to working full-time in a one-to-one role
- Be patient and understanding
- Build good rapport with children
Additional training would also be beneficial e.g. Team Teach.
If you would like to apply for this role, please contact Tom Lawrence as soon as possible on 01622920701 or send your CV to tom.lawrence@teachingpersonnel.com.
