SEN General Teaching Assistant

Speech and Language Therapy graduate required - January Start

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a speech and language graduate to join a fantastic primary school in North London. This 2 form entry school are looking for a learning support assistant to work 1:1 with a pupil in Year 1 and also small groups across other year groups.

Main Responsibilities:

- To ensure that the pupil receives targeted support, appropriate to their needs, in conjunction with the headteacher, specialist speech and language therapist, support teacher for early years children with special needs, support teacher for the hearing impaired, and class teacher.

- In consultation with the class teacher, SENCO, specialist speech and language therapist, support teacher for children with special needs, support teacher for the hearing impaired, and class teacher to assist in planning and implementation of any individual programmes of work, such as those relating to IEP targets, speech and language development, and curricular follow up or preparation.

- To assist the pupil to access the full curriculum.

- To be actively involved and undertake general care and supervision of other members of the class or group.

- To accompany the pupil on visits, as agreed by the headteacher, and family e.g. nursery trips etc.

- To assist in monitoring the progress of the pupil in all areas of learning and to keep records as requested.

- To liaise with the specialist speech and language therapist, support teacher for early years children with special needs, support teacher for the hearing impaired, and any other services as required.

- To develop a good working relationship with the pupil, the family and any other professionals involved.

- To contribute to and attend any review or liaison meetings as requested by the headteacher.
