Do you hold a with QTS or NQT with a good knowledge across all subjects?

Would you be able to support children within an SEN school, with small class sizes to be able to provide that specialist teaching?

What we are looking for:

We are looking for an SEN General Teacher to support a secondary school of around 60 pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties, Autism, ADHD, ODD and Challenging behaviours - many of these pupils are no longer able to remain in mainstream education. The School are seeking a hard working, empathetic, resilient and confident SEN General Teacher in providing excellent education whilst managing behaviour and promoting positive life choices. The aim of the school is to ensure each pupil leaves well rounded and prepared for their future. They understand that this is not a quick fix type role, the children will need nurturing over time to help them reach their full potential. As a SEN General Teacher, you will be responsible for covering termly topics across the curriculum and adapting the lessons to suit the needs of your class of 4-8 students and also on 1:1 intervention.

A successful SEN General Teacher will ideally be MAPA trained or willing to undertake the course within the next few months. The candidate must be hard working, resilient and confident in working with pupils who may display difficult behaviours, to succeed you need to be flexible, energetic and dynamic. 

Role, Responsibilities and benefits:

  • SEN General Teacher
  • Willing to help with some planning and marking
  • Supporting SEN students with SEMH and ASC needs
  • Acting as a positive role model
  • Adhere to their behavioural policy and all other policy's and procedures
  • Commit to safeguarding and attend all training
  • Starting September 2020 or as soon as notice period. 
  • Development and improvement of general resources within the departments
  • Willingness to participate in the school’s extra-curricular programme
  • Could earn from GBP115-GBP185 per day (Dependant on pay scales)
  • Working under PAYE - No umbrella companies!
  • CPD including Autism Awareness to Managing Change/Anxiety and Behaviour

Other requirements; 

  • SEN Experience or willing to gain experience within the SEN sector
  • Have QTS, PGCE or have other relevant teaching qualifications
  • Residing in the UK or have a UK address you are moving to in the near future
  • Must have or be willing and able to apply for a fully enhanced DBS certificate on the update service

We are ideally wanting people who are available ASAP but with the current ongoing situation with Covid-19 this role may be subject to change or delay, however, whist we have other SEN schools currently open we are still looking for others suitable candidates so please still apply.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
