Teaching Personnel are seeking an experienced SEN Support Assistant to support pupils with additional learning needs in a Leeds Special School. This is a full time, fixed term contract, with an opportunity to become a permanent member of staff.
Located on the outskirts of the city centre, the school was graded Outstanding in February 2017 and currently offers learning opportunities for pupils aged 3-19 with a range of complex learning difficulties. 85% of pupils have diagnosed Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and/or Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), so it is vital that you have an understanding of supporting pupils who because of their communication difficulties become anxious and struggle to engage. You will be calm and resilient and may also possess a valid Team Teach certificate or equivalent training.
Teaching Personnel are proud to be celebrating their 20th year as the UK’s leading supply. Our CPD academy will ensure that you are kept up to date through relevant courses, with Team Teach, EAL, Moving and Handling, Introduction to Autism, and Effective Behaviour Management just some of the specialist SEN sessions you can benefit from as a registered candidate with Teaching Personnel.
You will be familiar with some of the teaching approaches used in school such as the TEACCH principles, but others may be new to you and include: Sensory Integration, Intensive Interaction, Write Dance and Positive Play. The school have their own dedicated Speech and language therapist and new contract with an exceptional Occupational therapy team, supporting pupils’ holistic development.
To register with Teaching Personnel and apply for this role, please contact Rebecca Holden on 0113 224 0234 or email rebecca.holden@teachingpersonnel.com
We are committed to finding you your perfect role. You must undertake a valid Update Service Registered DBS Check (AGY)
