At Teaching Personnel, we are currently looking for Teaching Assistants who have experience supporting pupils with SEN requirements, in a mainstream setting. We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable individuals with the ability to provide general and specialised support to students with some general Special Needs on a flexible basis.

Examples of the SEN areas our clients will often require support with are - Reading and Writing difficulties, autism, physical or mental Health conditions, severe and profound learning disabilities and also varying levels of concentration such as ADHD/ADD. Often these pupils will have EHCP plans to be implemented or managed so experience creating and completing these is also favourable.

The perfect candidate would be confident in dealing with basic SEN requirements and be able to implement a supportive and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will be confident in dealing with behaviour management effectively and passionate about providing high levels of pastoral support.

These roles vary in duration between short and long term however do usually have the potential to be extended due to the specialised nature.

Responsibilities

  • Providing support and supervision to pupils, ensuring access to the curriculum in a safe learning environment
  • Promoting an inclusive and accepting environment
  • Prepare learning resources
  • Encourage positive peer interaction
  • Provide feedback to pupils/carers
  • Attend to pupils’ personal needs, including health, social and welfare matters
  • Provide differentiated support to each pupil taking their needs into consideration

Requirements

  • All candidates must hold a valid DBS check on the update server and if not, be willing to apply for this
  • Experience in an SEN setting is required either from an education or community setting
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of the KS1/KS2  curriculum

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
