Job description

A special School situated in Oldham are currently looking to appoint an English Teacher for January 2018. This position is a full time role and will involve working 5 days per week. This position will run until the end of the academic year (July 2019). If you feel that you have the appropriate experience please apply as soon as possible as the Head Teacher is looking to meet potential Teachers as soon as possible.

The Setting is an outstanding Multi Academy Trust which runs across 4 sites all of which are located in Oldham. Sites cater for pupils between 4 - 19 with a Statement of SEN or an EHCP, on the autistic spectrum and/or have significant communication and interaction difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).

The role will involve planning and delivering lessons that are designed to support the development of pupils with SEN. Due to the specific needs of the pupils we would be interested in Teachers who have experience of working with pupils with SEN in some capacity. The ideal Teacher will ideally have experience working within a Special School Setting; however this is not essential as long as the Teacher can demonstrate a passion for working with SEN. The main focus of this role is support pupils in reaching their potential in English, so the Teacher must have an in-depth knowledge of how to deliver sessions up to GCSE English.

The ideal Teacher will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (essential)
  • An in-depth knowledge of the English curriculum
  • Experience working with pupils with SEN in some capacity
  • The ability to build positive working relationships with pupils, school support staff and parents
