SEN Class Teacher - Burnley

Job description

Our client school in Burnley are seeking a Special Educational Needs Teacher from Sept. 2019 - Aug. 2020. The school is in the East of Lancashire and provides specialist education to pupils with a wide range of SEN, from age 11 to 19 years. Due to the school's continued expansion they are seeking to appoint a skilled, creative, and enthusiastic teacher who is able to deliver the curriculum primarily for those pupils with a wide range of generic learning difficulties. The role will be full-time.

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent
  • Qualified Teacher Status

Desirable Qualifications

  • Evidence of continuing professional development re: SEND and/or curricular

Essential Experience

  • Teaching pupils with SEND, and the ability to promote a culture of continuous learning throughout the school.
  • A working knowledge of assessment procedures, IEPs and individual target setting
  • Excellent ICT skills
  • The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with pupils/parents/agencies
  • The ability to use ICT resources effectively to enhance learning, including use of sensory rooms

Desirable Experience

  • Teaching pupils with SEND within a special school setting
  • Experience of multidisciplinary working and undertaking therapy programmes.
  • An awareness of specialist equipment, PECS, Makaton, Intensive Interaction, and augmented communication methods
  • Experience of Moving and Handling and using a range of specialist equipment
  • Ability to deliver a subject specialism
  • TT Intermediate trained or willing to undertake training
