SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a special needs school in Hampton, London Borough of Richmond upon Thames who are looking to appoint an experienced special needs teaching assistant to work 1:1 in their primary department. Personal care, therapies and in class learning support will be part of the role responsibilities so having experience in special settings or confidence supporting in these areas is essential.

You will be assisting a SEN teacher and up to 3 SEN 1:1 TAs in a small primary class in a range of subjects working 1:1 or in small groups with pupils throughout the school day. You will need to be flexible with an excellent approach to supporting children in SEN settings. Class work will be provided by the school but SEN teaching assistants must be open to supporting with reporting pupil progress, resources and covering across the school where required.

Pupils in this school are aged between 2-11 years old with some having medical needs, a diagnosis of autism, speech and language communication needs and/or severe learning difficulties.

Location: Hampton, London

Role: SEN Teaching Assistant (TA 1:1) 

Duration:  1st February 2021 - December 2021 (may be extended)

Hours: 8:30am - 4:00pm Monday to Fridays

Pay rate: GBP70 – 85 per day (paid on a weekly basis - negotiable dependant on qualification/training)

We are encouraging applicants with 1:1 SEN support experience in Special Need Schools, Pupil Referral Units, primary schools and/or nurseries and/or secondary schools.

You will have the following:   

• Full-time availability (Mon to Fri 8:30 - 4:00pm)
• Minimum 1 year relevant SEN/1:1 support experience
• Confidence supporting SEN children with personal care (toileting support)
• Excellent communication skills
• Current residence in Hampton, London or with local transport links to the Richmond area
• A valid child DBS Certificate (on the update service) that will need to be taken to the school on first day

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
