Do have a passion for supporting children's with Social & Emotional Mental Health and Challenging Behaviour?

Teaching Personnel are currently looking for an enthusiastic and diverse Behaviour Support Workers to provide support to secondary aged students at a Pupil Referral Unit in Bedford. The school aims to create a friendly and inclusive environment for both pupils and staff members and provides excellent support to both temporary and permanent members of staff.

About the role

In your role, you will be required to;

  • To work under the instruction and guidance of teaching and/or senior staff.
  • To provide support to students who display challenging behaviour.
  • Assist with the development of certain pupils.
  • Encourage positive behaviour.
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with pupils and staff.
  • Ensure that all pupils have equal access to their own learning and development.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with challenging behaviour, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) as well as some SEN experience. The role will entail working with children of ages 11-16, so previous experience working with children in secondary school setting or with young adults would be an advantage.

As well as this, someone who has a calm and friendly approach to managing behaviour and a proactive work ethic. Having the ability to establish constructive relationships with students and staff is essential.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
