Job description

An outstanding Multi Academy trust are looking to appoint an SEMH Teaching Assistant to start from September 2017. The position is part time and is initially temporary for the first term September- December2017; however there could be an opportunity for permanent dependent on the need of the school.

The trust runs across 4 sites based in Oldham. This particular site caters for pupils aged 4 - 19 who have either a statement of SEN or an EHCP plan, or pupils with SEMH needs. The role will involve working directly with pupils who have SEMH needs and providing them with the appropriate support to assure that they can achieve the best possible outcomes.

The Teaching Assistant will be responsible for planning and delivering lessons that are designed to support and encourage the optimal development of pupils with SEMH. Due to the individual needs of the pupils we would be interested in applicants with experience of supporting children or young people with SEMH needs. The Teaching Assistant will ideally have experience working within a special school; however this is not essential as long as they can demonstrate a genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEMH needs.

The ideal Teaching Assistant will have:

  • A Teaching Assistant qualification (level 3 desirable)
  • Team-Teach training (desirable)
  • A considerable amount of experience working with pupils with SEMH needs
  • A commitment to assure the optimal development of pupils with SEMH needs
  • The ability to build positive working relationships with pupils, school support staff, other teachers and parents

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
