Teaching Personnel Newport are seeking an SEMH Support Teaching Assistant to join a large secondary school in Newport.

This role is to begin ASAP and will be full time for the rest of the academic year.

GBP300 - GBP350 weekly pay

What will you be doing?

In this role you will be supporting SEMH pupils within the Behaviour Unit of a large secondary school.  Your role will consist of offeringg general support to students who are in the unit, but you will also be required to provide 1:1 intervention sessions with these pupils at times.

You will be based within the Behaviour Unit at all times and will not need to go into other lessons with these pupils.  

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Teaching Assistant with previous experience supporting Primary or Secondary aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who display challenging behaviours.  The pupils you will be supporting will present highly challenging behaviour, so previous experience (person or professional) working with challenging individuals is essential.

You must be a patient, empathetic and confident individual.  The pupils you support have had a lot of disruption with going in and out of lockdown, so the school is seeking a Teaching Assistant that will be reliable and is able to committ to the longer term as consistency is highly important for these pupils.

As well as SEMH needs, the pupils you support may also have Additional Learning Needs (ALN) so previous experience supporting ALN students is desiable.  In particular previous experience with Autism and ADHD would be helpful for this role.
