Behaviour Mentor - Derby

A secondary school north of Derby city are looking to recruit effective behaviour mentors to support disengaged students who are at risk of exclusion.

You will be part of a supportive team who ensure pupils have structured periods of learning in smaller groups or on a one to one basis. The successful candidate will ideally have experience working with vulnerable students and those with emotional, social and/or mental health difficulties.

The role is full-time with the offer of a permanent contract for those who excel in post.

Those who have experience in the following areas would be of particular interest:

• Youth work

• Support work & residential care

• Learning mentor in the secondary environment

• Prison officers/tutors

• Graduates from relevant disciplines (Psychology, Sociology)

The primary function of this post is to work collaboratively with students to improve their confidence, self-esteem and participation. To do this, you will need to encourage achievement through high expectations, praise and fair boundaries.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
