Behaviour Mentor - Loughborough

A secondary school in Loughborough are looking to recruit effective nurture mentors to support disengaged students who are at risk of exclusion. You will be part of a supportive team who ensure pupils have structured periods of learning in smaller groups or on a one to one basis.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience working with vulnerable students and those with emotional, social and/or mental health difficulties. The role is full-time with the offer of a permanent contract for those who excel in post.

Those who have experience in the following areas would be of particular interest:

• Youth work

• Support work & residential care

• Learning mentor in the secondary environment

• Awareness of SEN and social, emotional or behavioural issues

• Inclusion support worker in mainstream

• Experience in PRUs/alternative provision

• Prison officers/tutors

• Graduates from relevant disciplines (Psychology, Sociology)

The primary function of this post is to work collaboratively with students to improve their confidence, self-esteem and participation. To do this, you will need to encourage achievement through high expectations, praise and fair boundaries.
