SEMH Teaching Assistant

Experienced SEMH behavioral specialist needed in Leads, West Yorkshire

• Experience working in a challenging SEMH in either educational or non educational setting
• Build up positive and effective relationship with students who will be vulnerable and at risk
• Competitive weekly pay which can range from between £50 to £80 a day

Teaching Personnel in Leeds are currently working closely with a specialist behavioural school based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Graded "good" by Ofsted. Only 10 minutes outside the city center making the school easily accessible both by pupil transport and car. The post will be to start as soon as possible and will be for the foreseeable future, with the possibility of becoming a permanent member of their staff.

The school deals with pupils in a through school setting who display strong challenging behaviour and a wide range of SEMH needs. You will need to be confident and able to build up good, strong effective relationships with the pupils as well as the staff. You will need to know how to de-escalate challenging behaviour from pupils, have a great deal of patience and know how to have a holistic and calm approach when dealing with pupils. You will also need to build up positive relationships and be a positive role model.

We are looking for hard working and committed individuals who would be confident and happy working with challenging pupils who are primary and secondary school aged.

It is essential that you have experience in the following:

• Working with pupils with challenging behaviour SEMH or SEN

• Firm understanding off the personal and social issues that surround children with challenging behaviour

• Encourage learners to overcome barriers their learning and create positive change

We welcome individuals who have had previous work experience in challenging residential settings, prisons and military roles.
