An exciting opportunity has arisen for a teaching assistant to offer support to pupils at a school in Bradford, West Yorkshire. The students have SEN as well as SEMH behavioural needs. Due to having special needs, the pupils find it difficult to pay attention in class and struggle with managing their frustration and behavior. The role would be challenging and will demand a lot of resilience.
Your role as a teaching assistant will be solely for the support of the children within their educational setting. You will provide continuous provision to the pupils by helping them stay focused in class, be persistent with your behaviour management strategies, simplifying and breaking down instructions when needed. This can be in groups or on a 1:1 basis. You will also need to build up trusting relationship with your pupils.
The successful candidate must be able to remain patient and calm when the pupil is feeling frustrated and shows bad behaviour. The pupil’s social skills are relevantly poor meaning that it is important you can help enhance their communication skills and integrate them into the class. Some pupils are currently going through some personal home issues, so the school is looking for a candidate who can be a positive role model and wants to offer the pupils their full support.
You will need to travel about for the job so access to a car / pupil transport is essential
A Team-Teach qualification or relevant qualification (e.g. MAPA) are highly desirable but not essential. Teaching Personnel also offer a range of CPD courses including Team-Teach,
