SEMH Teaching Assistant - Feltham, Hounslow - Full time - Immediate start!
Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for Social, emotional and mental health teaching assistants to work within a large primary school based in Feltham. Following the school closures there has been a focus on providing the right SEMH support to students struggling with anxiety including separation anxiety, depression and other related issues.
We are looking for a confident candidate to provide social, emotional, mental and educational support to students across their key stage two department. You will be allocated a number of students demonstrating signs of SEMH, providing one to one support to help with their transition back to full time education.
The role?
This role is based across a KS2 department, you will be working with students between the age of 8 and 11 years old with complex needs. A huge part of the role will be building a strong rapport with each student to help develop their confidence and ability within the classroom. As the students have complex needs you will need to communicate effectively with the parents, carers, teachers and other members of staff - creating continuity within their school and home life. Alongside this you will work with them to build a positive association with learning and being back in the classroom.
What about the school?
The large four form entry school has focused on supporting their students through this transition. With it being a large school they want to create a safe and happy learning environment for all students to develop in a number of different ways. With an advanced SEN department they have provisions in place that support a range of students with ASC, ADHD, SLCN, PMLD and behavioural issues. The SENCO works closely with members of staff, providing them with appropriate training courses and support to consistently improve and develop their skills.
As a relatively new school that reopened in 2018 they have demonstrated their commitment to each and every student. With new a new building and faciltiies they have great opportunities to teach in an outstanding environment. The school is based in the heart of Feltham, easily connected by multiple train and bus services. They do also have a large onsite car park for members of staff.
What kind of candidate are they looking for?
- Experienced working with children/adults with social, emotional and mental health difficulties.
- Relevant training including supporting children with challening behaviour and any related to mental health.
- Confident working with students with challenging behaviour
- Able to provide appropriate feedback and development updates to staff/parents/carers.
