Support Worker Required

  • Supportive working environment
  • Full-Time Position (Shifts)
  • £16,000 - £18,000 (depending on experience)

I am currently working closely with an SEN school in the North West Kent location that are looking for Support Workers for the residential side of the school. The School is set up specifically to support vulnerable children for whom mainstream were unable to meet need due to significant and complex needs. This group includes children and young persons with significant mental health difficulties, High Functioning autism and Asperger’s Syndrome. The varying needs of this cohort impacts upon their ability to engage with their academic and personal development.

The Support Worker primarily undertakes their role within Boarding and Care Team and will work in close liaison with the wider school team. Ideal candidates will have the following:


• A sense of humour and fun!

• Experience of working with children and young people in a residential setting

• NVQ level 3, Working with Children and Young People or the Children and Young Peoples Workforce Diploma.

• Ability to take and make decision under stress

• Absolutely child focused

• A clean driving licence

• Competent IT skills.

• Knowledge of Safeguarding Procedures


• Knowledge of attachment theory

• A professional qualification

• A working understanding of The Children Act 1989 and 2004

Relevant qualifications and experience will be highly beneficial, yet it will be your ability to build relationships and increase pupils attainment and sense of worth that will make you a success. Due to the rural location own transport is essential. This is a full-time permanent position; hours are shift based.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
