Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit SEN Teaching Assistants to work within a pupil referral unit in Wirral. We are looking for people that are flexible and can work on a day to day basis as well as people that would like long term work. There is one outstanding vacancy for a TA which is part time, long term at the moment. The rate of pay for this school is £8.07 per hour.
Nearly all students attending our client school are permanently excluded from their mainstream schools. Students can be admitted at any time meaning numbers at the school fluctuate considerably. Most students are in KS4 with boys out numbering girls; relatively few students have a statement of SEN.The pupils all have SEMH difficulties and the majority of pupils are very challenging.
Responsibilities
*To encourage pupils to join in with all activities and to take a full and active part in school life.
*To prepare, modify and adapt resources and learning materials for the pupil as agreed with the class teacher and other professionals.
*To assist in resolving any behavioural, social and emotional difficulties which may arise.
*To encourage the pupil to develop a positive self image, and to develop confidence in their abilities and communication with others.
It is not essential to have worked in a school previously however working with secondary aged children in some capacity is preferred. There are no specific qualifications required but having behaviour management training such as Team-Teach or MAPA is highly desirable.
The type of person who usually gets on well in this type of environment usually comes from one of the following backgrounds: care services, prisons, youth workers, sports coaching and psychology.
