Job description

Behaviour Support Worker

  • Behaviour Support role within a Mainstream Secondary School
  • Full time, term time only
  • Daily pay rates of up to £75 (depending on experience)

A medium sized Secondary School on the East side of Leeds in West Yorkshire are currently seeking a full time behaviour support worker to start as soon as possible up until Easter 2017 in the first instance.

The role will involve working closely with challenging and often vulnerable pupils to re-integrate them into mainstream lessons and ensure they are succeeding academically. You will work directly with the SENCO and other inclusion staff in the school to ensure good communication.

The role will be different every day and extremely rewarding, however due to the nature of the students you will be supporting you must have excellent behaviour management skills and the resilience to cope with this line of work. Previous experience of working in a behaviour support role with Secondary-aged pupils is desirable but not essential, other related experience may include Youth Work, Social Work, Sports Leaders, Ex-Military etc. As you will also be supporting within lessons you must have at least grade GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).

The school is located in East Leeds and is easier to reach by car but is possible to reach by public transport too with a regular bus service just a ten minute walk from the school gates.

Being Team Teach trained will be an advantage in this role, but if you have not received this training or it is out-dated, Teaching Personnel offer regular CPD courses including Team Teach which you will be encouraged to attend.

This particular role is full time, however if you are seeking part-time/flexible work we do have a number of similar positions available on a supply basis.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
