SEMH Behaviour Teaching Assistant Needed in Ebbw Vale

  • Experience dealing with challenging behaviour
  • Role is in a mainstream school, supporting a pupil 1:1
  • Team Teach Training is advantageous

Teaching Personnel works with several schools in the Blaenau Gwent area, many of which are PRU’s. Many of these PRU’s work on a behaviour support scheme which introduces a teaching assistant to a class to particularly focus on improving behaviour with certain groups of pupils. Sometimes this requires working one-to-one or with a small group of pupils, as well as working to generally support the class.

A school in Blaenau Gwent are currently looking for teaching assistants for behaviour support, one position specifically for a candidate that has a construction, hairdressing or beauty therapy background as well as the desire to support pupils on a one-to-one and general teaching assistant duties. The right applicant would have experience dealing with pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health challenges that lead to challenging behaviour, and ideally be Team Teach trained. You would not be phased by high tariff behaviour and be confident de-escalating behaviour and at times using restraining techniques. Experience working as a one-to-one teaching assistant would be beneficial, as well as experience as a general teaching assistant.

Team Teach training would be advantageous, however if you do not have this training Teaching Personnel run courses during the holidays which you can enrol on to gain this qualification. Ideal applicants would have their own transport and be happy travelling around Ebbw Vale if necessary.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
